Qurani Takatifu

The Qurani Takatifu, published by the Islamic Foundation Kenya in 1974, is the Swahili translation of the Holy Qur’an by Sheikh Abdullah Salah Farsy — a landmark scholarly effort that brought the message of the Qur’an to Swahili-speaking communities across East Africa. Undertaken between 1950 and 1967, the translation responded to a growing need for a reliable and authoritative Qur’anic text in a language widely understood throughout the region.

Its publication marked a significant achievement and remains a lasting legacy of the respected Sheikh Sahib. Over the past five decades, the Qurani Takatifu has served as a key reference for worship, learning, and Islamic scholarship among Swahili-speaking Muslims — making the present comprehensive review a critical investment in its continued accuracy and relevance
