History

1960s-1970s (Expansion of Scope):

Beyond publishing, the organization extended its operations to building mosques in various interior areas of Kenya and in public/government institutions.

Establishment:

The Islamic Foundation Kenya has been active for more than half a century, initially focusing on the production, publication, and distribution of Islamic literature, including the popular Swahili translation of the Quran (Quran Takatifu) by Sheikh Abdalla Farsy.

Founding of Kisauni Islamic Institute:

The foundation established the Kisauni Islamic Institute to train Imams, Madrassa teachers, and scholars, expanding its influence in educational development.

Ongoing Operations:

The IFK currently operates orphanages, provides educational support, runs Ramadan Iftar programs, and supports new converts through empowerment programs.

2024:

The longtime chairman and founder of the Islamic Foundation, Sheikh Mohammad Akhtar Wajid Rao, passed away on February 14, 2024.
